Project Definition & Charter

Effective project management and gate reviews require that the purpose and scope of the project be well defined. A textual definition of the goals of the project are captured on the Charter page of the project in PD-Trak. The system also generates a Brief – a one-page document that summarizes the charter and key project meta data including timing and financials.

How it works

The Charter page of a project is used to capture the project goals, scope and objectives. The format of the charter (text box titles and supporting help) is configurable. This document is completed when the project is first initiated and is refined during the first 1-2 phases of the project, after which it should (ideally) remain constant.
